nota
I visited Birmingham right on the day of the "Peaky Blinders" Grand Finale, the city is a lot more paved over than in the show.
With a small but very beautiful and well preserved historic centre, Birmingham has an industrial/historic feel inherited from the industrial revolution (like most major British cities outside London). Being the UK's second largest city, it was home to many rascals, among them the great and legendary John Michael Osbourne, aka Ozzy. Tributes to the man are scattered all over the city, the most notable being the mural at Aston Villa's stadium, the Black Sabbath Bridge and the Ozzy bull statue inside Grand Central. There's also a statue in honour of national treasure Phil Mitchell, found right at the bottom of the staircase in Victoria Square, in front of the Council House.
